The moment the infinite space ceased to expand, the seemingly eternal flow of time stopped. Countries of the world acquired stability, and human beings were freed of their fear of the unknown.
The video imagines the state of the eventually achieved equilibrium. Starting with the historical speech of the first man in the space, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, it then keeps balancing in anticipation of an event. In such u/dys-topic condition, the place [topos] loses its identity, becomes a non-place. Universal unanimity enables the society to work as a perfectly designed mechanism.
The work began with my interest in the idea of transformation of the concept of time and place in the modern consciousness. My intention was to contrast two visions of the future - future as a distant and beautiful dream that was exploited by the Soviet ideology, and modern perception of future that has dissolved into the never-ending present.
In addition, the video became a reflection on limitations of the humanity – our inevitable confinement within own temporal, spatial and linguistic boundaries.
